Glass w/ Fox @LiHigh School
Throughout the Poultney Arts Day event, Michael Scupholm will bring the SAW Mobile Glass unit to Main St, Poultney. He will be performing demos for Poultney Arts Day to allow for students, teachers and commuinity members to experience the physical properties of glass in action through heat, gravity, force, and pressure.
Demos include glass blowing and glass sculpting. Student group participants will have the opportunity to walk away with a handmade glass heart, made in regard to the 2023 PAD theme "Art is the Heart of Main Street."
Blacksmithing w/Mike Krauss @REclaimED makerspace
Mike is a community member who has many passions incluidng smithing. He is a cretive entrepreneur within our town and will be demonstrating his techniques for the community showing his craft at REclaimED. It is his first PAD and we are so excited to have him!
Raku Kiln w/ Jordan Becker @Poultney High School
Salem ceramics artist, Jordan Becker will be collaborating with Poultney High School ceramic's students in constructing a temporary wood fired raku-wood kiln and firing ceramic pieces made by students that will be inspired by Poultney’s Mainstreet.
The firing will take place on Poutney Arts Day and people attending the festival will have the opportunity to observe the raku process and see the collaborative art pieces take shape as its is fired and assembled through-out the day.
Fiber Arts w/Aja Ewing @Porcupine Bikes
Aja is a fibers artist that has been teaching and sharing her craft with Poultney and community at REclaimED makerspace. During PAD she will be at Porcupine Bikes sharing with the participants some fiber arts demonstrations. We are so excited to host Aja this year for PAD!

The Poet is In @ SVA lawn
Bianca Amira Zanella will be @Stone Valley Arts on the lawn and engaging the community participants and students with "The Poet is In" performance. Many PHS poets via their English teacher will be crafting creative writings with Bianca along with other youths and community participants. This is her second PAD and we can't wait to hear and read what gets made this year!
Community Sculpture w/Zac Ward & SAW @ the rail trail
Re-imagining a new sculpture with a heavy metal armature bolted to a cement base, sculptor Zac Ward will manipulate and attach pieces of scrap metal to the base using a mig welder and oxyacetylene torch to create a sculpture. The sculpture will be created by the railroad tracks near the rail trail connecting the sculpture to Salem, NY and Rutland County,VT as a metaphor to ‘tie’ the local artist community together.
The public is invited to collaborate with Zac by giving recommendations on the sculpture’s composition.
Bike Maker Tours @Analog
Analog makers will host tours of their space and share their process with students and youth. Limited tour space, send us an email if this is a must see on PAD!

Kerry O Furlani is an amazing artist who has been sharing her craft of slate carving w/PAD since 2017!
While she is out of her stuido for this year on PAD, you can still find her works along Main and in Slate Quarry Park!
We hope you check out her pieces as she is a cornerstone artist in our community.

Studio Visits @ Journal Press
The Weis studio will be open this year for small group tours with Nancy Weis!
She will be also be hosting VT Open Studios the weekend that follows PAD, 5/25-5/26!
PAD is so grateful for the continued participation and contribution to the event and our arts community from the Dick and Nancy Weis !
Batik Arts w/ GMCS @ Porcupine Bikes
GMCS art educator Sarah Elworthy will share her batik practice with the community and students, hosted by Porcupine Bikes this year.
Stop by to see her from 9am-11am.
Printmaking with PACC @Slate Quarry Park
Volunteers from the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce will share with the community their printmaking process @Slate Quarry Park. A bug thanks to our PACC for supporting PAD media needs this year as well!
We are lucky to have such an engaged org in our town!
Paper Making w/ John Burfeindt @REclaimED
John is the new board director at REclaimED and is excited to be hosting a paper making station on Main at the makerspace this year.
He will create and explore the art of paper making for his second PAD with students and community.
FOOD Art and Sculpture @ Poultney Public Library
Rebecca Cook with PPL volunteers will host PAD participants in a art making journey using food as a vehicle. The Poultney Public Librarian will utilize the library's amazing mobile food cart and kitchen for the event on Main!

Gallery Talks @SVA w/ Krista Rupe
Participants will be able to explore and view the May Student Art show that highlights local youths' artwork, in the galleries of SVA and also in the business windows along Main!
Stop by during the daytime event and meet Krista Rupe, for a talk and walk around the gallery! The works this year are from a variety of participating schools.
